LITRA
LITRA is the new home for creative entrepreneurs in Copenhagen. A shared workshop environment where craft, design and technology come together, so more entrepreneurs, designers and students can build ideas in the real world. Built on maker’s commitment to accessibility and community, LITRA is here to expand hands-on creation in the city and support the next generation of builders, designers and physical entrepreneurs.
Opening April 1, 2026 at Otto Busses Vej 21, 2450 Copenhagen SV
Our vision
Step into LITRA and you’ll find hands-on creation in full swing. Workshops, machines, shared spaces and guidance under one roof, with people learning, testing and building side by side. You might pass someone prototyping a new idea, a group of students upholstering a chair, or a small team refining a product through trial, feedback and iteration.
LITRA is a new home in Jernbanebyen for physical entrepreneurs, independent creatives and curious locals who want to create with their hands, minds and shared machinery. Created by maker, it is designed to lower the barrier to craftsmanship and strengthen what happens when different people collaborate across skill-level and background. Here, curiosity becomes capability and ideas become physical outcomes, from prototypes and repairs to local production and new approaches to reuse and materials.
LITRA exists to help more people build, share and learn, and to support more sustainable ways of creating in the city.
Resourceful transformation
LITRA is based in a former blacksmith shop in Jernbanebyen, built in 1907 as part of Copenhagen’s railway workshops. Now, the building is transformed into an open workshop environment with spaces for woodwork, metal, textile ateliers and digital fabrication, alongside private offices, community areas, and spaces for workshops and events.
This transformation is guided by maker’s commitment to resourceful creation, a circular approach that prioritises repair, rebuilding and working with existing materials to also honor the architecture of the historical building. By sharing industrial resources and technical expertise with our partners, we aim to reduce waste and move away from disposable lifecycles and isolated production towards a more collaborative, sustainable model.
The building will keep evolving over time as more members move in and new collaborations and projects take shape, continuously improving the spaces through use, experimentation and learning.
